Turquoise Care Guide
KEEP YOUR TURQUOISE WILD.
Natural turquoise is a living stone — it has character, variation, and a few preferences. Treat it well and it will only get better with time.
CHEMICALS
Remove your jewelry before using household cleaners, bleach, chlorine, or any chemical products. These can damage both the stone and the silver setting. The same goes for perfume, hairspray, and lotion — put your jewelry on last, after everything else.
ACTIVITIES
Take your jewelry off before swimming, bathing, working out, or any activity that involves impact, heavy moisture, or abrasion. Turquoise is a relatively soft stone and sterling silver can scratch. Neither needs to prove itself at the gym.
STORAGE
Store each piece separately — ideally in a soft pouch or lined jewelry box — to prevent scratching. Keep away from direct sunlight and extreme heat, which can affect both the stone color and the silver over time.
STERLING SILVER CARE
Sterling silver will naturally develop a patina over time. To clean, use a soft dry cloth and gentle pressure. Avoid abrasive polishing cloths or silver dips near the stone — these can damage turquoise. For heavier tarnish on the silver only, use a soft cloth with a small amount of mild soap and water, then dry thoroughly. Never submerge turquoise jewelry in water.
STONE CARE
Wipe turquoise gently with a soft dry cloth. Avoid ultrasonic cleaners, steam cleaning, or soaking. Protect stones from sharp impacts — a dropped ring on a hard floor can chip or crack the stone.
GENERAL RULE
When in doubt, take it off. Your turquoise will thank you.
